NPS - Logo Redesign

Traditionally, we relate the National Park Service to nature and the outdoors. As is with the current logo and design, an arrowhead with mountains, a tree, and a bison are displayed. I wanted to take a different approach with my design while still being able to identify with the national parks. This was how I came up with the idea to form this abstract shape that displays as, “NP.”
I enjoy the 70's retro graphic design era which shows through with this logo design. I like creating simple, yet conceptual marks. By adding concept, it gives the design itself a stronger position and fuller purpose.

It's important that I visualize the logo in its element to understand more fully if the mark is working successfully. As I have shown in the mockups as a sticker, a badge on a backpack, and here as a label for a camping stove.
This was a fun project to work on considering I love our National Parks. Traveling, camping, hiking, and spending outdoors in general is a favorite past time of mine and is reflected in this project.
